Week 1 (Quarter 2) Blog

This week had become the official start of the 2nd quarter of the 2022-2023 Ilima Intermediate school year, and it's been very normal so far. Nothing stressful or bad has happened (suspiciously), and this week's been sort of "entertaining" in a way. For one thing, the new GT students had just come in. I don't know any of their names to be fair, and I haven't interacted with any of them. But because of the retreat, I was able to communicate with the older leadership students. I mean, I was able to before, but I couldn't really do it well, couldn't even wave to other people or say hello. Besides that, I don't have any specific opinions on them, I don't really know them at all. But I assume they're good people, so perhaps I'll get to know them better. Anyways, there were 2 new activities that we had to do. The 1st one being a Halloween DIY decoration which was assigned during the retreat. My first original plan was to make only a spider garland, but I made something else Aswell. After finishing my spider garland that took about 3 days, I decided to make a candy basket that was based off of spiders as well. The garland was made of construction paper and some string, whilst I used some googly eyes, Styrofoam balls, and some pipe cleaners to make spiders that surrounded and stuck out the candy bowl. To me it was a little more original since everybody just made origami things, garlands, or some standard things you'd find at a store like spiderwebs, etc. However, I literally cannot talk because treat bowls are the most common thing on Halloween, but if we're mentioning the leadership class only then maybe. After that was the magic notes envelopes. Magic notes are essentially positive words that others write down and give to other people. We didn't have to write any magic notes this week, but instead had to work on our envelopes. A magic note envelope is just where you drop off your magic notes to the people you desire. You put your notes in the persons envelope and although we made our envelope at the retreat, it was hand crafted and not the best.

                          Halloween decor that was made

Highlights of the year, the Halloween decoration, to me it was extremely fun and something that was able to keep me busy. It was very entertaining to actually do something, being creative and actually implementing it physically was a good way of being crafty and taking a part of something. Another highlight may have been the new GT students, I have no actual opinion on them, since I barely know them, but it's good to have more people. And who knows, I assume they're all nice people, and are willing to take part in GT and leadership. I don't necessarily know of a lowlight this week, but I'll say I've been super tired and unmotivated recently. I don't know why, maybe it's malnutrition, or not enough sleep, but I assume it's affecting my work. It's why I basically got a lot of coffee now since I don't know what it does.

A moral of this week may be that you shouldn't assume things about people without getting to know them first. I suppose that I'm still judging a lot of the new students (and old ones), and although I assumed some things at first, there's many things I didn't know originally, I learned, especially during the retreat. So perhaps I'll learn a lot more about the new students.
