Week 2 Quarter 2 Blog`
This week at Ilima has been pretty basic and normal, nothing super unique or interesting had happened this week; but some things still had happened this week. I'll just go from the start of the week to the end in specific order as traditionally in my blogs. During the start of the week, we were assigned broadcasting for Ilima TV, and it was fine. Nothing to bad happened while we were operating TV, although there were some mix ups, I was too tired to understand which is why on that week began my coffee addiction. Apparently, people give me weird looks seeing an adolescent drinking coffee, (especially a 13 yar old) which is understandable. Anyway, besides that were what happened during our class periods and advisories. For our class periods, on Monday all we did was help the GT students get caught up and to understand everything. We also did some others like designing our yearbook designs. The yearbook designs we make require 3 things, a cover, background, and a theme. Essentially, the theme needs to be based off a "diary", and although my design didn't win, I didn't necessarily care. During Wednesday was when we had to show them our orientation dances. Orientation is basically just a play based off a popular movie or franchise. The current orientation/play is based off Shrek, and I forgot most of the moves since I got to tired. Wednesday was also when we showed them how to use our cameras, some of the lesson was actually useful and the rest was everybody taking a picture of a single flower on a very depressing tree. I watched from the side as everybody basically went crazy over the tree in confusion. After that during Friday and advisory, we casted our votes on the yearbook designs to see who'd win out of all periods that were chosen as #1. I don't know who won, but I'm sure it was tied between Eliscia's one and Leighlani's yearbook design. During Wednesday which I forgot to mention was a GT meeting during class. All we did was gather around the GT people in our period whenever we were told to. To summarize what the meeting was about, it was directly related to our GT video. GT videos are essentially common assignments for GT students, these videos are mostly related to helping the school with situations or problems or recording events/important notices like ISA. Anyway, our video assignment was that we had to cover a serious problem relating to the school, the other periods chose things like cyber bullying. vandalizing, etc. Our topic was about school fights, we planned out everything. We basically had people interview others, record it, explain how these fights happen, and how the student can prevent it. We might also include a skit for those who are visual learners to show ONE example of how fights started. After that we assigned roles on who did what and rapped everything up.
Some highlights may be that I discovered Starbucks Frappuccino's which can actually help me function and think properly. Without the coffee I kept falling asleep and couldn't focus, but with it; now I can. It helps a lot to me, and I appreciate its wonders. Anyway, another highlight may be that I was able to evenly plan out the whole video for the GT assignment, and it helped my schedule. I thought I would have to do the video by myself completely alone but learning that other GT students would help was sort of a relief. One last highlight may be that I was able to bond with the new GT students from my period. I was able to spend time and talk to the new GT students (definitely not forcefully) and I learned a little about them. Apparently "Siri" was from my elementary school GT and even though I worked with them I somehow didn't remember them at all. Dominic was also from my school, but I never knew, and they are nice and funny people to be around with. A lowlight of this week may be my stress for the future projects/assignments. I was assigned coming up with Orientation dances and I have to plan. make scripts and think of how the video should go. It might be sort of stressful, but then again, most of the assignments I stress about end up being not as bad as I'd originally think about it.
A moral that I learned about this week was that stress is only a normal obstacle to success. Sometimes during difficult goals, there might be some obstacles you'll encounter that'll stress you out to the point that you want to quit. But it's normal, and if you really want to achieve your goal, you just need to suck it up and go through it. This moral basically matches me being stressed with orientation and the video, it'll be hard to do, yes, but it's normal.
